Composites One eyes Vancouver site for 72000-square-foot warehouse - The Columbian

One of the largest raw material distributors in the country could soon be setting up a branch in Vancouver.

A developer has submitted preliminary plans for a 72,000-square-foot warehouse in east Vancouver that would serve as a storage and distribution center for Composites One LLC.

Composites One, based in Arlington Heights, Ill., bills itself as the largest distributor of raw materials and composites to fabricators in North America. The company employs a staff of about 500 across 38 supply warehouses in the United States and Canada.

The company specializes in a wide variety of materials including Styrene-based resins and gel coats, organic peroxides, cleaning solvents, mold preps and fillers. It was created in 1999 through the merger of three predecessor materials distributors.

The proposed industrial building would be located on an undeveloped 5.4-acre site within the Birtcher Business Park in east Vancouver. The site’s listed address is 14419 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., although it’s actually at the intersection of Northeast 63rd Street and Northeast 147th Avenue, to the south of the nearby Walmart Supercenter off of Fourth Plain Boulevard.

The preliminary application was submitted by the Portland-based engineering firm DOWL. A pre-application conference with the city has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 23.
